"I have found this waterbird" the lady on the other end of the phone, says, "I'm not really sure what it is, although I'm pretty good at identifying birds, but I've never seen one like this before."
A few questions and we establish that it is white, has yellow legs and a 'fairly long' yellow beak. (I'm thinking cattle egret)
On arrival we open the box and lo-and-behold it's a
white leghorn chicken complete with wattle and comb!

Welcome to my Lives
I appear to have many lives.
Among them wife, mother, grandmother and domestic engineer.
In one of my other lives I run a very small architectural glass business. This consists of sand bed slumped glass for shower screens, balustrades and other commercial applications.
Although there is still the thrill of opening the kiln to see what has developed, there is no great artistic or technical challenge.
But hey!. . . . it helps to pay the bills.
In another life, my passion for wildlife has led me to become a wildlife rehabilitator, so our house is constantly filled with an amazing procession of sometimes sad, tragic, joyous, and funny, sick, injured and orphaned birds and animals.
This blog is an opportunity to talk about successes and failures with wildlife and to document my success and failures in glass so . . . . . .
